Katakwi, Uganda – Vice President Maj. (Rtd.) Jessica Rose Alupo has been re-elected as Chairperson of the Veterans’ League for Oigo-Imomwa Village in Ongongoja Sub-county, Katakwi District.
The announcement was made by Moses Otim, the NRM Village Election Officer, during the NRM party flag bearer elections for the village structure held over the weekend.
Alupo, who has served in the position for more than a decade, was reaffirmed by the local electorate in a vote that underscored her long-standing influence and commitment to the welfare of veterans in the area.
Supporters described her re-election as a vote of confidence in her leadership and service to the community. “She has consistently advocated for the rights and needs of veterans and continues to be a unifying figure in our village,” one resident remarked.
The NRM party’s village-level elections are part of a broader effort to strengthen grassroots structures ahead of the national elections. Alupo’s continued leadership at the village level is expected to enhance the party’s presence and coordination among veteran communities in the region.
Alupo is also currently serving as Uganda’s Vice President, a role she has held since 2021. Her re-election at the local level demonstrates her sustained engagement with her community despite holding a high-ranking national office.
