THE VOICE OF PEOPLE: HOW MR ODEKE IS REDEFINING RADIO IN EASTERN UGANDA
By Entertainment Correspondent
Soroti, Uganda – In a media landscape where voices come and go, one voice continues to rise above the rest—bold, unapologetic, and passionately local. That voice belongs to Mr. Odeke, the charismatic and controversial radio personality shaking up the airwaves at Kyoga Veritas 91.5 FM.
Born in the heart of Angangam Village, Bukedea District, Real Name Odeke Emma Akol aka Mr. Odeke’s journey from a rural upbringing to becoming the most followed and talked-about radio presenter in Eastern Uganda is nothing short of inspiring. A proud son of Aminit Sub-county, his passion for media started young, refined through years of persistence and growth.
After completing his primary education at Angangam Primary School, Odeke pursued secondary and tertiary education with unwavering focus, eventually making his media debut at Gold Radio 95.8 in Mbale. His talent quickly became undeniable, and he moved through various media houses, each time leaving an unmistakable mark on audiences with his distinctive voice, authenticity, and fearless commentary.
But it was his move in 2023 to Kyoga Veritas 91.5, the flagship station of Soroti Catholic Diocese, that solidified his status as a radio giant. Hosting the Late Night Love Show, Sports Arena, and the fan-favorite Weekend Starter, Mr. Odeke brought not just entertainment—but a movement.
Through his platforms, he has revived and championed the music of Teso, giving a voice to underrepresented artists and creating a new wave of cultural pride. “He doesn’t just play music—he tells our story,” says one listener from Serere. “He’s a voice for the unheard.”
His influence spans beyond the studio. Mr. Odeke has become a cultural ambassador, bridging generations and genres with a mix of humor, hard-hitting opinions, and deep community engagement. Whether he’s discussing love, life, or local politics, his take is always raw, real, and refreshingly bold.
Yet, it’s not just the fans who are listening. His controversial statements and fearless style have sparked national conversations, making him both loved and criticized—but never ignored.
Today, Mr. Odeke stands as the most influential radio personality in the Teso entertainment industry, a media force so magnetic that other stations are now watching closely. With a loyal fanbase, sharp instincts, and unmatched passion, the question is no longer if national media will call—but when.
