Rt. Hon. Speaker Anita Annet Among Nominated Unopposed for Bukedea Woman MP Seat
Bukedea, Uganda – In a resounding show of confidence and support, the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, has been duly nominated unopposed to retain her seat as the Bukedea District Woman Member of Parliament in the upcoming general elections.
The development comes after no other candidate submitted nomination papers by the Electoral Commission’s deadline, effectively clearing the path for Speaker Among to extend her leadership in the district unchallenged.
Currently serving as Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda, Among has been a central figure in national politics, known for her firm leadership, legislative acumen, and advocacy for development in her constituency. Her unopposed nomination is widely seen as a testament to her enduring popularity, both in Bukedea and across the country.

Residents of Bukedea, political leaders, and supporters turned up in large numbers to witness the nomination process, which was marked by celebratory songs, dances, and speeches praising her dedication to public service. Many constituents cited infrastructure development, youth and women empowerment, and education support as key achievements of her tenure.
In a brief address following her nomination, the Rt. Hon. Speaker thanked the people of Bukedea for their unwavering trust and pledged to continue being a servant leader focused on development, unity, and the well-being of her people.
