Soroti, Uganda — The Office of the National Chairperson (ONC) national coordinator, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, today spearheaded a major job creation drive in Soroti district by distributing a variety of income-generating items to local groups.
The empowerment initiative, held at Katine Primary School, saw beneficiaries receive items including hair dryers, shaving machines, brick laying machines, popcorn machines, chips frying machines, groundnut processing machines, hoes, among others. The effort is part of the ONC’s broader agenda to tackle unemployment and promote self-reliance, especially among youth and women in the Teso subregion.
The event drew a large turnout, with top NRM leaders from Teso and several political aspirants in attendance, signaling strong party support for economic empowerment programs under the NRM ideology.
Speaking at the event, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized the importance of practical support in driving socio-economic transformation. “Our people don’t need just promises—they need tools and opportunities to work. We are here to empower communities to build their own wealth,” she stated.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, calling the initiative a timely boost toward financial independence and community development.
The ONC continues to roll out similar programs across the country in a bid to fulfill the socio-economic empowerment pillar under President Museveni’s leadership.
