SOROTI CITY, — The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda and party flag bearer for Soroti City West, Hon. Echodu David Calvin, has been officially nominated to contest for the Member of Parliament seat for Soroti City West Division, pledging to inject new energy, transparency, and transformative leadership into the city’s development.
Hon. Echodu was duly nominated at 11:00 a.m. by Mr. John Olinga Gonzaga, the Soroti City Returning Officer, at the Electoral Commission offices.
“I, John Olinga Gonzaga, the Soroti City Returning Officer, hereby declare Hon. Echodu David Calvin duly nominated to contest for the position of Member of Parliament for Soroti City West,” announced Gonzaga.
Addressing the media shortly after his nomination, a visibly jubilant Echodu expressed heartfelt gratitude to his supporters and the NRM fraternity for their unwavering trust. He vowed to bring renewed momentum and practical solutions to the challenges facing Soroti City West.

“I have been duly nominated for the position of Soroti City West MP, and I want to say it’s time for development and new energy, not for jokers,” Echodu said. “Parliament is not a place for stories or empty talk, but a house of action, direction, and transformation for our nation.”
Echodu outlined his key priorities, focusing on improving health services, education, infrastructure, roads, and accountability, while tackling youth unemployment and poverty across the Teso region. He stressed that his leadership would be result-oriented, promising to lobby for projects that would directly uplift the livelihoods of ordinary citizens.
“I am ready to work with the people of Soroti City to ensure real change in service delivery and leadership that transforms lives,” he remarked.
Despite Soroti City West being widely recognized as an opposition stronghold, Echodu exuded confidence that the NRM’s renewed unity and strength will turn the tide in favor of the ruling party.
“Soroti City West has long been considered an opposition area, but we are coming with one strong message — unity and action. The NRM has the numbers, and with teamwork, we shall make Soroti City shine yellow again,” he declared.
Echodu further revealed plans to work closely with other NRM aspirants, including the City Woman MP and Mayoral candidates, to consolidate party support and strengthen grassroots mobilization for a decisive electoral victory.
“We are organizing ourselves as a strong, united team — from MPs to councillors — to ensure that NRM regains its dominance in Soroti City. I am energized and ready to deliver victory,” he concluded.
With his official nomination, Hon. Echodu David Calvin now launches his campaign under the banner of “New Energy for Development and Transformation”, positioning himself as a leader ready to deliver practical change and drive Soroti City West toward a brighter, more prosperous future.
