SOROTI DISTRICT, UGANDA — As the 2026 general elections approach, the people of Dakabela County are calling loudly for new leadership—leadership that delivers results, listens to the community, and prioritizes development over personal interests. In this rising wave of demand for change, aspirant Hon. Anyimo Harriet has gained strong momentum, presenting herself as the candidate prepared to transform the county’s future.

For years, residents have expressed deep frustration over the lack of meaningful progress in their area. Hon. Elitu Cosmas, who has served as the Member of Parliament for Dakabela County, faces heavy criticism from the community for what locals describe as years of underperformance. Many say that despite being in office, he has not brought visible development, leaving the county behind in key sectors.
“We are tired,” one resident said. “We need someone who will work for us—not someone who goes to Parliament for money while the people suffer.”
Against this backdrop, Hon. Anyimo Harriet has emerged as the candidate capable of giving Dakabela County a fresh start.
A Candidate Focused on Tangible Development
Harriet has pledged to correct the failures of the past by prioritizing real, impactful development. Her plan includes upgrading and expanding road networks, many of which remain in poor condition, hindering business, transportation, and access to services.
She has also committed to improving healthcare facilities, ensuring that hospitals and health centers are fully equipped, properly staffed, and accessible to every community.

Improving Education for a Better Future
Harriet places education at the center of her agenda. She plans to advocate for improved school infrastructure, teacher support, and learning resources to raise academic performance across Dakabela County. She believes that every child deserves access to quality education regardless of their background.
A Unifying Leader for a Divided Community
Beyond infrastructure, Harriet has pledged to promote unity in Dakabela County. She emphasizes that development can only thrive where there is cooperation, peace, and a shared vision. Her inclusive approach has earned her praise from elders, youth groups, and community leaders who believe she can restore harmony in the county.
Youth Rally Behind Harriet

The youth—who make up a significant portion of the electorate—see Harriet as the leader capable of opening doors to new opportunities. Many youth leaders say they have waited too long for development and now want someone who understands their struggles and aspirations.
“She is the change we have been looking for,” a youth representative said. “We believe she will deliver.”
A New Direction for Dakabela County
With dissatisfaction toward the incumbent leadership and growing excitement around Hon. Anyimo Harriet’s vision, Dakabela County stands at a turning point. Residents are increasingly choosing a leader who promises action, commitment, and a genuine connection to the people she seeks to serve.

As the campaign season continues, Harriet’s message of development, unity, and integrity is reshaping the political outlook of Dakabela County—signaling a possible new chapter for the region.
