Mr. Odeke: From Humble Beginnings to Eastern Uganda’s Most Followed Radio Personality

SOROTI CITY — Mr. Odeke, a name now synonymous with radio excellence across Eastern Uganda, has steadily climbed the ranks to become one of the region’s most recognized and celebrated broadcasters.
His journey began in 2015 while still a Form Six student at Joy Secondary School Mbale, where his passion for media first took root. Balancing academics and his love for radio, he laid the foundation for a career that would soon capture the attention of thousands.
After completing his studies, Mr. Odeke joined Active Radio in 2017, where he gained his first professional experience behind the microphone. That same year, he moved to Gold Radio 95.8 in Mbale, where he quickly became a popular figure, hosting sports programmes and the highly energetic Reggae Jams.
Building on this early success, he later transitioned to Time FM 95.0, where he hosted the Evening Drive, a show that became a favorite for many listeners winding down their day. His smooth delivery, relatable conversations, and deep understanding of his audience helped solidify his reputation as a rising star.
In 2023, Mr. Odeke made another major move by joining Kyoga Veritas Radio 91.5 (KVR) in Soroti City. At KVR, he currently hosts the Late Night Love Show, popularly known as KVR Breezer, the Weekend Starter, and key sports shows—bringing both heart and energy to the station’s programming.
Beyond his achievements on air, Mr. Odeke has also built a formidable presence online. He is now officially the highest followed radio personality in Eastern Uganda, commanding a massive following of 123,000 followers on Facebook, 10,000 followers on Instagram, and 10,600 followers on Twitter (X).
Speaking about his journey, Mr. Odeke attributes his success to hard work, resilience, and his unwavering connection to his audience.
“I started with a dream in a classroom, and today I speak to thousands every day. It’s been an incredible journey, and I am just getting started,” he said.
Mr. Odeke’s story is a shining example of how talent, passion, and perseverance can turn humble beginnings into an inspiring legacy. As he continues to grow and touch more lives through his work, the future looks even brighter for this voice of Eastern Uganda.
