Echodu Draws Massive Support in Serere as Campaign for NRM Vice Chairperson Gains Momentum

Serere, Uganda — The campaign trail for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda has taken a decisive turn in Serere District, where David Calvin Echodu received a rousing welcome from hundreds of enthusiastic supporters.

The grand procession through Serere Town was marked by cheers, chants, and vibrant displays of yellow as residents turned out in large numbers to back Echodu’s bid for the influential party position. His message—centered on addressing unemployment, bridging infrastructure gaps, and boosting agricultural productivity—resonated strongly with the crowd.

Echodu, known for his grassroots-focused leadership style, pledged to run a transparent and inclusive office if elected. He outlined a vision that prioritizes revitalizing party structures, strengthening engagement with local communities, and ensuring that all voices, especially at the grassroots level, are heard in the decision-making process.

“With unity, honesty, and action, we can rebuild trust between the party and the people,” Echodu told supporters. “Eastern Uganda deserves leaders who will not only speak for them but work with them to bring real change.”

A seasoned humanitarian and activist, Echodu has spent years championing social justice and development initiatives in the region. His campaign has increasingly been framed as a movement to reconnect the NRM with its grassroots base, injecting what he calls “new energy” into the party’s leadership.

As the August 27 NRM Delegates’ Conference approaches, political analysts say Echodu’s growing momentum in districts like Serere could play a pivotal role in reshaping the race for Eastern Uganda’s top party seat.
